Green Building
Contrary to what we know from listening to Kermit the Frog, being (and building) "Green" is easier than you might think. For example, here are a few green practices in place at Economy Lumber Company:
Presently, there are many agencies and standards all clamoring for the green spotlight. At this time, there is no national, state, or even county standard governing all things involved in green building. Below are some links to various green players. Forest Stewardship Council is a non-profit international organization whose purpose is to promote and reward good management of the world’s forests.

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative program is a North American based program which audits SFI certified companies to ensure compliance with harvesting.

National Association of Home Builders
The NAHB has developed a National Green Building Standard along with the International Code Council (ICC). It will soon be considered for approval by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Additionally, the NAHB has a Certifed Green Professional Program for Builders, Remodelers, and Developers.
